America’s Dark Night of the Soul: How 75 million voted for fascism

Media, academia, and the public are clueless on how America is slipping into fascism – an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government. The damage will not be fully understood for years or decades. Few realize that in 1932 federal elections, nearly 14 million Germans voted for Hitler. The Nazi party did not take Germany by force. They were voted in!

The Board is Tilted

The board is tilted in favor of money and power. It is a constant struggle to role the ball uphill to equity for all people and species. Money is concentrated, it commoditizes people / nature, and is required to live. If one feels financially insecure, and are told they are being attacked, they will do whatever you ask – even if its against their own interests.

Fake News + Uneducated Population = Dangerous

Put another way, misinformed vulnerable people are unable to distinguish between truth and fake news. When propaganda is promoted as news from respectable sources, people cannot tell the difference. The top American news channel, FOX, is a foreign owned entertainment network in sheep’s clothing. Rupert Murdoch is a Australian born foreign national with the sole motivation of profit. Truth and profits have nothing to do with one another. If there is no basis in truth, fake news that uses public airwaves must be labeled as entertainment.

If people do not know their history, they are damned to repeat it. In a 1946 prison cell interview, Herman Göring, formerly the second most powerful man in Nazi Germany, ominously said,

The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger.

When 75 million Americans vote for a person with an 8th grade intellect, sexual assault jury convicted, 34 felonies, compulsive lier, fragile insecurity, convicted business fraud, 6 bankruptcies, bone spurs draft dodger, attacked the U.S. Capital, election interference, stolen national secrets, more … Americans have lost their shit. They deserve what they get, in my opinion.

Five people died during or after the January 6, 2021 attack of the U.S. Capital, including four protesters and one police officer, and approximately 140 officers suffered injuries, according to the Department of Justice. Donald Trump should be tried and probably convicted of involuntary manslaughter. Those five people would likely be alive today if Trump had not instigated and did not quickly stop the attack when it became obvious that it had become violent.

Don’t Blame The Politicians; Blame The System

Our political selection process is so messed up, it’s criminal.

Money gives corporate candidates false visibility. Remove money from elections. Publically fund elections. Repeal Citizens United. Corporations and PACs are not people.
Disqualify liars and felons. If a politician cannot speak the truth, they have no business representing the people. Don’t give criminals power. If a candidate lies during a debate, kick them off the stage. Candidates won’t lie again. If a government official lies, remove them from office.
Eliminate the Electoral College. Vote for two candidates. Transfer second vote to top two candidates if your first choice is third or lower.
Have experience requirements. Political cronies should not be give control of a department they know little to nothing about. We need to find a better way to support officials that dedicate their life to public service. We need more Bernie Sanders. Kamala Harris might have lost the presidential election, but at least she has dedicated her career to protecting the American people from being a prosecutor to Vice President.
Government is a honey pot attracting those in search of power, and recognition on the media stage. Government does not work when officials are more in search of this power, and promoting their personal agenda’s than fixing the potholes and serving the American people.
Keep church, state, and schools separate.
If social media or news services publish lies, shut them down. There is a difference between free speech in favor or disfavor of a politician. But, stating a non-truth is lying that may effect government. Lying is interfering with elections.
End monopoly media. Separate local nonprofit ownership of all media including radio, newspapers, television, online.
This might sound radical, but it’s best in the long-run. Only let women vote. Men can serve, but women have better judgement. This is especially important in a world of accelerating social media and disinformation.
Term limit every office.
All elections must state party affiliation, including school boards.
Ethics rules for all officials with jail time teeth. Zero insider trading and no gifts.
For god sake, tax and even limit wealth. The three riches Americans have as much wealth as the bottom 50 percent.

Scary Recent American Parallels to Nazi Fascism

Monopoly Government Is Bad

Government for wealth and by control is not a sustainable proposition. Remembering history again, the ultimate control system: Roman legions collapsed. Romans started fighting Romans, and people lost interest. Too many disenfranchised people.

It ticks me off that we have all this wealth in the world, but it is still concentrated in the hands of a few. No body has the balls to end our corrupt system. Rent enslaves the regular family, and the stock market enriches the already wealthy.

Wealth commonly makes subsequent generations entitled derelicts, with near zero contributions to society. Banks and government, keep the wealthy, wealthy. The system does not equitably share wealth, nor protect Nature from our exploitation.

We need to allow alternative social organizational systems the trend towards a better life for future generations, human and wild. Give up monopoly resource and land ownership. Allow alternative communities and ideas to thrive.

The thing that has always gotten us through is diversity. Diversity in society, languages, species, and ecosystems.

We also have to reduce our numbers. Gone is the time we could have large families. We have to go back to one child families to allow a future for all life.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, but we have to start to reinvent a way to manage our lives that is more equitable for all today, and sustainable for the future. We have to get control of this new electronic media and put some limits on it. We have to teach history and herstory.
